The Foreign Languages department began in 1966 as the “Languages” department of the Samarkand State Architecture and Construction Institute. In 1969 it started independent work as “Russian and Foreign Languages”; later, joined by “Uzbek and Russian Languages”, it was again named the “Languages” department.
It operated as “Language Studies” in 2011–2015, “Foreign Languages” in 2015–2018 and “Uzbek and Foreign Languages” in 2018–2020; since November 2020 it has carried the name “Foreign Languages”.
