The university's anti-corruption system

Higher education institutions under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the university among them, have each set up a department to manage the anti-corruption “compliance control” system. The department carries out wide-ranging work to remove the factors that give rise to corruption in science, education and innovation.

Its main areas of work:

  • anonymous surveys of students and teaching staff on the transparency and openness of the teaching process;
  • regular awareness and prevention events with students and teaching staff on “Combating corruption and related offences”;
  • anti-corruption “Open Days” with students' parents and representatives of law-enforcement bodies, local administrations, political parties, the media and other public organisations;
  • internal investigations of offences showing signs of corruption, with the findings passed to the law-enforcement and supervisory authorities;
  • regular internal rotation to prevent conflicts of interest;
  • videos and texts on the harm done by corruption, published on the university's official websites and Telegram channels, and reporting on the progress and results of this work to the public through the media;
  • briefing newly hired teaching and other staff on the consequences of corruption, their duties, the prohibitions, restrictions and requirements that apply to them, the anti-corruption policy and the code of ethics;
  • monitoring, through working groups of anti-corruption, internal audit and other specialists, that public procurement and recruitment are open and transparent.

Training and reporting channels

The Head Scientific and Methodological Centre for the retraining and professional development of teaching and management staff runs a special 36-hour course for the staff of anti-corruption “compliance control” departments, and the department's staff take it regularly.

For reports of corruption from students and staff, the university runs a Telegram bot, and “Justice boxes” are installed in the teaching buildings. The department's hotline: +998 66 237-36-25.
