Today, 21 October — the day Uzbek was given State Language status, and Uzbek Language Day — a festive event was held at the Alisher Navoiy park in Samarkand.
As part of the event, a flower-laying ceremony was held at the foot of the statue of Alisher Navoiy, the sovereign of the word. The gathering spoke of the greatness of our native language, its rich historical heritage, its place today, and its immense importance for the development of the state and society.
The event also featured poems, music and songs glorifying our language, along with stage performances, stirring feelings of great pride and honour among those present.
