The second day of the BRAUIC 2025 international forum, “Global Horizons: International Educational Cooperation in Architecture and Construction in an Era of Transformation”, concluded today in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
BRAUIC (the Belt and Road Architectural University International Consortium) is an international consortium founded in 2017 at the initiative of the Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (BUCEA) under the Belt and Road Initiative, today bringing together 91 universities from 39 countries across Asia, Europe, Africa and the Americas.
Dr. Chidem Turkyilmaz, rector of Mirzo Ulugbek Samarkand State Technical University, and Sherzod Uzoqov, First Vice-Rector for youth affairs and moral and educational work, took part in the forum.
One of the key initiatives of day two was the official opening of Luban Global School. Luban Global School is an international platform grown out of the Luban Workshop programme, bringing together craft heritage, digital tools and global cooperation in technical and architecture-and-construction education. The initiative envisages placement programmes, innovation laboratories and joint degree tracks, relevant for higher education institutions across the CIS as well. SDTU will host Luban Global School's branch in Uzbekistan.
A global digital platform for preserving and using architectural heritage was also presented. It brings together “digital twins”, monitoring of the condition of sites, 3D/AR exhibitions, and tools for international cooperation among universities, research institutes, museums, heritage-protection bodies, city administrations and design bureaus.
