An international meeting on engineering and technology was held at Mirzo Ulugbek Samarkand State Technical University on the initiative of WorldSkills Uzbekistan. It was attended by the university's leadership, a WorldSkills Uzbekistan technical delegate, and leading specialists in industrial design and innovation from Shenzhen, China.
The main areas discussed were:
— Setting up an Industry Design Technology training centre — the only WorldSkills engineering centre in Central Asia.
— Introducing 8 WorldSkills specialisations at the university — courses to international standards, equipped with modern technology.
— Turning the university into a centre for training champions — building a national and international base.
— Joint programmes with China — a 2+2 bachelor's degree, a 1+1 master's degree, and joint PhD research.
— Admitting Chinese students from 2025.
