15 July 1966 — Samarkand State Technical Institute was founded under Resolution No. 367 of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Order No. 307 of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education.
3 May 1967 — the Institute was given the name of the great scholar Mirzo Ulugbek.
8 November 2022 — the institution was granted university status, and today it operates as Mirzo Ulugbek Samarkand State Technical University.
