These days, Rustam Eshmamatov, executive manager of Samarkand State Technical University, is taking part on behalf of the university in the UNESCO K4C Regional Training Centre (RTC) Asia — Mentor Training Program (MTP), held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
This international programme brings together K4C mentors, professors, lecturers and representatives of partner organisations from various countries. Organised by UNESCO, it is devoted to CBPR (Community-Based Participatory Research) — a research approach based on community participation — aimed at conducting scientific research together with communities, developing the “communiversity” (university-community integration) concept, and strengthening cooperation between communities and higher-education institutions.
During the programme, participants are attending lectures and training sessions led by international experts on topics such as the history and ethics of CBPR, alignment with the SDGs, knowledge democracy, climate change and sustainable development, and the integration of education and research.
At the end of the programme, participants will have the opportunity to establish UNESCO K4C Hubs in their own regions. Opening such a centre would create new opportunities for SDTU to join UNESCO's international network and to pursue international grants, research projects and partnerships.
