About the department

The Education Quality Control Department (Quality Control Coordination Office) was set up under Resolution No. 515 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan of 18 July 2017, “On organising the activities of the State Inspectorate for Education Quality Control under the Cabinet of Ministers”, and reorganised by Order No. 72 of the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of 27 March 2023.

Within the university the department reports to the First Vice-Rector for Strategic Development, and it is directly accountable to the ministry's Department for the Organisation, Licensing and Quality Assurance of Educational Institutions. It prepares analyses of the factors that affect the quality of education and submits them to the rector and to the ministry.

Main tasks

  • regularly analysing how well the teaching process is organised and the quality of teaching;
  • studying and analysing whether students' knowledge meets the state educational standards and how well they master their subjects;
  • helping to build a teaching staff able to assure the quality of education, including the selection and recruitment of capable teachers;
  • taking effective measures to keep the assessment of students' knowledge transparent and impartial;
  • ensuring that anti-plagiarism software is in use at the university and organising the fight against copying systematically;
  • preparing analyses of the factors that affect the quality of education.

Aims

  • raising the quality of education across the university and its units;
  • coordinating the work on improving the university's national and international rankings;
  • ensuring that education at the university meets the state educational standards;
  • running an internal system for monitoring the teaching process.

Raising the quality of education

To raise the quality of higher education and integrate it into the global education area, the university has organised its teaching since 2015 in a credit-module system based on ECTS principles. The university's Development Concept and Programme to 2030, approved by the rector, Chidem Janbay Turkyilmaz, names the quality of education and the training of highly qualified specialists as its main priority.

Digitalising the teaching process, applying innovative teaching technologies and using transparent methods of assessment are seen as the key factors in raising quality. The academic mobility of students and staff also contributes: in 2024, 61 of the university's leading teachers completed internships and professional development under academic mobility programmes, and 22 teachers from partner universities abroad gave master classes or lectures at the university. This has made it possible to apply at the university the advanced teaching methods used at foreign universities.

The systematic work of the Quality Control Coordination Office on organising teaching also helps to make teachers' teaching and research more effective.
