A further trip was organised for students of the Faculty of Construction under the “Travel across the Motherland!” project of the “90 Pressing Days” programme, carried out on the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan to give students a meaningful way to spend their free time during the holidays.
They visited the Nadir Devonbegi architectural monument and the Khoja Akhrar Vali khanaqah in Samarkand.
According to historical sources, the Nadir Devonbegi madrasah was built with funds from the famous Nadir Devonbegi. Because the madrasah stands close to the Khoja Akhrar khanaqah, it is also known among the people as the Khoja Akhrar madrasah, or as the Little Sherdor madrasah, because of the images of a sun and lions on its portal.
On either side of the single-storey madrasah's courtyard stand galleries, cells, a mosque and a classroom. The decoration of the main portal, with its fine turquoise, green and yellow ornament, creates a sense of elegance and harmony.
